BERLIN Recycling Volleys need one more win to qualify for 2014 CEV Volleyball Champions League
News from the clubs

Berlin, Germany, April 8, 2013. Gearing up for the third round of action in Germany’s national championship semi-final against the team of TV Ingersoll BÜHL, BERLIN Recycling Volleys are only one victory away from the qualification for the next edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League. The two teams representing Germany in the 2014 edition of Europe's most elite competition may be known already this Wednesday.
Taking a 2-0 lead in the Playoff semi-final of Germany’s Bundesliga, run in a best of five series, demanded nevertheless everything from the defending champion. In front of 1’700 spectators in BÜHL’s “madhouse” the sensation of this year’s German national league campaign, the team of head coach Ruben Wolochin, started out perfectly claiming the first set. “BÜHL began aggressively, playing at their highest level for one and a half set”, BERLIN head coach Mark Lebedew said after the match. His team however, found its rhythm by the end of set two and eventually took revenge for their single defeat in the regular season by claiming a 3:1 win (20-25, 25-22, 25-15, and 25-19). “We haven’t had to fight like this for a win for quite a while, that was crucial today”, the Australian resumed.

However, the up-coming match this Wednesday is hardly to become a sure-fire success for BERLIN. “It is important to start out well. If we manage to demonstrate our strengths right from the beginning, I’m confident for us to succeed in the end. But if we don’t manage to do so, it is likely to become a tight and very difficult match”, Mark Lebedew says.

The second semi-final between Generali UNTERHACHING and VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN might also come to an end this Wednesday, as the team of head coach Stelian Moculescu took a 2-0 lead in the best of five series this Saturday. The finalists of the German national league will claim the CEV Champions League tickets at stake for the next season and eventually fight for the German national crown.

Both matches will be broadcasted live and for free on the internet. The match BERLIN Recycling Volleys – TV Ingersoll BÜHL is shown by www.rbb-online.de/sportplatz. The broadcast of the second semi-final Generali UNTERHACHING – VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN will be available at www.DVL-live.tv.
