Romanian ‘Tigresses’ sets sights on historic achievement
2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Women

Bucharest, Romania, March 12, 2016. There is a lot of anticipation in Romania’s capital for the second round of the 2016 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup – Women semis coming up on Sunday where C.S.M. BUCURESTI will be trying to grab a historic opportunity to make the final stage of a European competition. On Wednesday the Romanian ‘Tigresses’ claimed a 3-1 away victory over 2015 gold medallists BURSA BBSK of Turkey and as a result, if they take another two sets from the re-match at home, they will progress to the final stage of the Challenge Cup.

Since so many people have shown their interest in the match, the organisers have decided to install a giant screen which will be made available in a public area for those who will not be able to find a seat and follow the match from the stands.

Bulgarian-born outside spiker Mariya Karakasheva (pictured, #13) commented: “We are about to play a very important match and we will be doing our best in order to make sure that the fans get to enjoy a real show. Even though we claimed a 3-1 win in Bursa, we still haven’t secured our qualification for the final. We still have to take another two sets on Sunday.”

Opposite Roxana Bacsis (pictured, #3) said: “We want to prove once more that we have an excellent team. It’s not going to be easy because BURSA BBSK have a top team too, but I trust my teammates. We are a big family here and this feeling will help us secure our qualification for the finals.”
