2016 CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship - Women

Nitra, Slovakia, September 2, 2016. With the pool phase of the #EuroVolleyU19W complete, it is time to look back at the last five days of action in Nitra and Győr and the players to have made a name for themselves so far, ahead of the knockout round starting in Nitra on Saturday.

All semifinals and finals are available to stream on Laola.TV (Streams).

Germany did not qualify for the final four of the competition, but Hanna Orthmann is clearly the tournament’s top scorer so far, having hit 90 points, nine more than her closest rival in the rankings.

Overall, Serbia have been the biggest point scorers with 334 scored across their five pool matches.

There have been plenty of aces in the tournament so far and Slovakia’s Karolina Fricova has landed the most so far with 19 to her name, an average of 0.95 per set.  

With 26 killing blocks to her name, Serbia’s Jovana Kocic is statistically the most prolific at the net. She is the only player in the tournament to average over one per set. However, in terms of blocking efficiency from players to have featured in all five matches, Aslihan Kiliç is top of the charts having converted 25%.

The best receiver so far has been Hungary’s Kata Török. The teenager has received 113 balls and dealt with 33.63% of them.

Of all the players to have played in all five matches, Serbia’s Andela Veselinovic is the tournament’s top setter to date with an efficiency of 42.11%.

Following Friday’s rest day, play resumes on Saturday with four matches in Nitra. Four teams are left in the running for medals. Serbia play Turkey at 17:30 for a place in Sunday’s final and the winner will play either Russia or Belgium who will do battle later in the evening at 20:00.
