#EuroVolleyU19W a learning experience in coronavirus times
CEV U19 Volleyball European Championship 2020
Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, August 26, 2020. The organisers of #EuroVolleyU19W in Zenica are following very strict hygiene protocols to comply with the guidelines provided by the national health authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina – with additional procedures in place as per the protocols issued by the CEV for the resumption of competitive sport in times of coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020 edition of #EuroVolleyU19W in Zenica and Osijek is the very first international Volleyball competition to take place since the outbreak of the pandemic earlier this year – and it is going ahead without any spectators.
“We found ourselves in a very unfortunate situation. It is difficult to organise anything anyway, now we had an additional challenge – hosting a competition according to the guidelines issued by health authorities and the specific COVID-19 protocol,” says Adnan Talić, Tournament Director and Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. “To begin with, we respect the regulations of the national authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, complemented by the CEV protocol, which contains guidelines to follow by players as well as by all others involved in the organisation of the event,” he continues.
“What we pay special attention to is hygiene. We are cleaning the complete space after every training session, after every game, including the training and match balls, we measure the body temperature of everyone entering the arena and people regularly disinfect their hands. The competition is taking place without any spectators. We have received much praise from the CEV officials. This tournament is a test and an example of how major Volleyball competitions will be taking place in the future until the pandemic ends. I believe that the experience we are making in Zenica will serve as a guide for everyone else on how to act during the pandemic,” Talić concludes.
