Fasten your seat belt and get ready for exciting 2017 Beach Volleyball season!
News from the CEV

Luxembourg, December 23, 2016. It’s the time of the year where temperatures are falling well below zero in many countries but fans can already start looking forward to an exciting 2017 CEV Beach Volleyball season with the major highlight coming up in August when Latvia’s most popular seaside resort, Jurmala (see picture) will be hosting the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Final crowning the new ‘Kings and Queens’ of the Beach.

Jurmala will be the place to be for all fans when the white-sand beach of Majori will welcome Europe’s Beach Volleyball stars for a huge party lasting from August 16 to 20 that will further raise the profile and popularity of Beach Volleyball in Latvia as well as across the entire Baltic region.

Though a number of additional events are likely to be confirmed in early 2017 – including tournaments on schedule for the qualification stage of the CEV Beach Volleyball Youth Continental Cup that will eventually determine the European contingent for the Beach Volleyball competition of the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympics – there is already much to be looking forward to when it comes to the 2017 Beach Volleyball season.

Actions will begin as early as on April 13-16 with a first-ever CEV indoor Beach Volleyball Satellite taking place in Göteborg, Sweden at the local Beach Centre – the world’s largest facility of this kind which already played host to a number of zonal events over the past few years.

As already announced, one of Europe’s most popular Beach Volleyball venues, the Austrian city of Baden will be hosting the 2017 edition of the CEV U22 Beach Volleyball European Championship from June 15 to 18 – with the tournament being organised one week earlier than initially planned following the re-scheduling of next year’s FIVB U21 World Championship due to take place in Nanjing, China. One week later Baden will be hosting the 2017 Austrian Masters, the first high-profile tournament of a truly exciting 2017 season.

Another two Satellite tournaments will be taking place in the summer of 2017 – at this stage events have been confirmed in Laholm, Sweden (July 6-9), and Vaduz, Liechtenstein (August 9-13). Additional Satellite events are most likely to take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Mersin, Turkey with negotiations still ongoing about the organisation of Masters tournaments in the Slovenian capital as well as in Ankara, Turkey.

As for the remaining age-group Championships, Vulcano in Italy and Kazan in Russia will be hosting the 2017 edition of the U20 and U18 European Championships, respectively.
