Like&Comment contest winner enjoys VIP experience at #EuroBeachVolley
2016 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship - Final

Biel / Bienne, Switzerland, June 4, 2016. In order to further enhance the promotion of the 2016 edition of the Beach Volleyball European Championship Final, the CEV launched some ten days ago a Like&Comment contest on its social media pages with as many as 10 prizes at stake for the fans. The first prize consisting of two VIP tickets, a signed official competition ball and player’s shirt was won by Jonas Stadelmann. On the next-to-last day of the tournament, he visited the iconic venue set up right by the shores of Lake Biel and shared his VIP experience of #EuroBeachVolley.

Jonas Stadelmann

is a 25-year-old Volleyball player living in Bern who is planning to resume studying in Zurich in order to become a teacher. “I play here in Switzerland in the National League A for TSV Jona. I also play the COOP beach-tour [a Swiss Beach Volleyball competition], so I actually know many of the Swiss players that are on the national team. Some of them are friends of mine and so I really wanted to come and support them,” Jonas said.

“As a Volleyball fan and player I think it is really cool that the CEV is organising this kind of contests on social media and I am very happy with winning this first prize, but even the other prizes are very interesting. I think a lot of fans would enjoy receiving gadgets from the CEV competitions and the top players and I think such actions are a good thing for the promotion of the sport in general,” he added.

“It’s great to have won this contest, but I would have come to Biel / Bienne anyway. It is a fantastic opportunity for me to enjoy the top of European Beach Volleyball and to have won a VIP entrance for me and a friend of mine makes it an even better experience,” Jonas revealed.

The experience as a VIP guest of the European Championship Final has made a good impact on Jonas: “It is really cool to be here as a VIP, the atmosphere is fantastic and the matches are really great to watch. It is just unfortunate that the weather is not so much on our side. The village set up around the event brings loads of fun and I think if the sun came out, there would be even more people here. I’ve been here the past two years as well and there is a lot of cool things to do.”

Being a Swiss Volleyball player, Jonas looked forward to seeing the home teams perform on home sand, but even more to witnessing some of Europe’s elite of the sport: “Of course I am a bit sad that all Swiss teams are out, but there are many other teams I look forward to seeing. For sure I want to see Aleksandrs Samoilovs/Janis Smedins and the Dutch teams, as I really like them. Some of them belong to the best of the world and that’s really cool to have all these great players here in Switzerland. Once in a while I don’t need to travel too far to see them in action and I feel kind of “obliged” to come and see them playing as the tournament takes place just next to the place where I live.”

“I usually watch a lot of matches online and I am really enjoying the Beach Volleyball tours organised by FIVB and CEV. Of course I knew the CEV before participating in this contest, but it was good to see that the CEV cares about the fans of the sport,” Jonas concluded.
