Skopje Satellite underway with qualification round
2015 CEV Beach Volleyball Satellite - Skopje

Skopje, Former Y.R. of Macedonia, August 21, 2015. The first edition of the CEV Satellite Skopje got underway on Thursday with only four matches played in the qualification round as another four teams received a ‘bye’ to move on straight to the Main Draw starting on Friday.

Serbia’s Stefan Basta/Lazar Kolaric, Norway’s Daniel Bergerud/Svein Oddmund Solhaug, Latvia’s Rihards Finsters/Edgars Tocs and Denmark’s Kristoffer Abell/Peter Kildegaard all moved straight on to the Main Draw as they did not have to play any match in the qualification round.

The four teams who made it through their respective qualification matches are Switzerland’s Sébastien Chevallier/Marco Krattiger, Turkey’s Sefa Urlu/Hasan Hüseyin Mermer, David Kufa and David Lenc from the Czech Republic and Greece’s Dimitrios Niopas/Thodoris Papadimitriou. Everything went just easy for these teams as they stamped 2-0 wins over tandems from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Serbia to claim a spot in the Main Draw.

The competition resumes on Friday morning with the first matches of the Main Draw starring, inter alia, top-seeded Maciej Kosiak/Maciej Rudol from Poland and England’s Jake Sheaf/Chris Gregory.
