2015 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship to stop in Milan and Baku
2015 CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship

Luxembourg, June 4, 2015. After the 2015 CEV U22 Beach Volleyball European Championships were moved from Myslowice to Catania and the announcement reporting on the first Satellite tournament taking place in Skopje, the CEV Board of Administration confirmed at their plenary meeting last weekend in Moscow the addition to the 2015 calendar of another two highlights, the Milan and Baku Masters. This brings up to five the stops of this year’s CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship, following the men-only Jurmala Masters held two weeks ago in Latvia and waiting for the much anticipated Final in Klagenfurt and the second edition of the Biel/Bienne Masters in Switzerland.

The Milan Masters is scheduled for September 17-20 and will be a men-only tournament, with a 16-team Main Draw and another 16 tandems entering the qualification round. The CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship returns to Italy after this country hosted last year’s Final on the beach of Poetto in Cagliari, Sardinia. The Milan Masters will be taking place at the Piazza della Regione Lombardia, right in the heart of the city which is known for being one of the world’s fashion and lifestyle ‘Meccas’.

The Baku Masters will follow in the footsteps of the inaugural European Games whose Opening Ceremony is scheduled for next Friday, June 12, and will be held at the iconic Beach Arena, the venue that will be hosting the Beach Volleyball and Beach Soccer competitions during the Games. Azerbaijan’s capital played host already last year to a Masters event and the 2015 edition is scheduled for September 24-27, with the double-gender tournament rounding off the programme of this year’s CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship.

“Italy is a country where Beach Volleyball is drawing more and more attention and that has produced some of the best European teams lately, including the reigning men’s continental champions,” says CEV President André Meyer. “Beach Volleyball is rapidly growing also in Azerbaijan and the Baku Masters represents the perfect legacy of the inaugural European Games that we are just about to celebrate. We look forward to two outstanding events in Milan and Baku to complete a record-breaking 2015 season.”
