Flash Info:

It is with great pleasure that Norway will again be back with a new event on the Beach Volleyball World Tour. Promoter Vegard Høidalen, the Oslo Beach Volleyball club (OSVB) the Norwegian Volleyball Federation have for several years worked with the city of Oslo to host beach volleyball tournaments at "Jernbanetorget." Jernbanetorget is the busiest square in all of Norway being situated exactly where the main street of Oslo, Carl Johan street, meets the Central Station of Oslo. We expect a packed stadium with a lot of passion for the sport and all the best Norwegian players being led by the "Beach Volleyball Vikings" currently ranked # 1 in the World after magnificent results from Anders Mol and Christian Sørum.

Norway has strong traditions regarding Beach Volleyball. Several European and World Championship Medals have been won by Norwegian players such as Jørre Kjemperud, Jan Kvalheim, Bjørn Maaseide, Vegard Høidalen, Nila Haakedal, Ingrid Tørlen, Cathrine Maaseide and Susanne Glesnes.

Despite the fact that World Tour events and European events have been hosted in Norway several times, no Norwegian player has ever been able to win a tournament on their home court. Tarjei Skarlund and Martin Spinnangr, the Bronze medalists of The European Championships in 2012, have been the closest when they reached the finals in the World Tour event in Stavanger in 2010 and the semifinals in 2011 but were unable to top the podium.

All of Norway is hoping to see the reigning European Champions of Anders Mol and Christian Sørum enter the court in August and win The World Tour in Oslo – on their home court!

We hope to see as many strong players as possible in the busiest part of Norway. We also look forward to seeing other strong Norwegian players such as Hendrik Mol, Mathias Berntsen, Svein Solhaug, Daniel Bergerud, Lars Retterholt and others compete to be the best of the best - in Norway - this fall.
